Bollywood Actress Bipasha Basu was asked to pay duty of Rs 10,000 at the Mumbai International Airport today for carrying certain goods for which she had not paid duties.
Ms Basu was returning from a shoot in London and was intercepted by Custom officials while passing through the green channel following a routine baggage check.
She was carrying goods like perfumes and sun glasses of over Rs 65,000 on which the duties were not paid. She was asked to pay the duty, which she complied. She was eventually asked to proceed after paying Rs.10,000 as unpaid duty.
In a statement, Ms Basu said that she went overboard with her shopping and had no clue if she had to pay any taxes.
Earlier this month, Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba was detained at the Mumbai airport for more that 16 hours for possession of undeclared Jewellery worth Rs 50 Lakh.
